The
Puritan’s of Salem are breaking down. Their court system that doesn’t rely on
solid proof for accusations is turning out to be inefficient. For example if
they had actual proof as to whether Abigail was a real witch then much time
would have been spared and there would be less drama. (Although without the
drama there would be no story.) The fact that they don’t rely on real proof
makes the people even more under-handed and shady than they are. I say this because
they can falsify situations just to put a disliked person “away”. For example
Parris only wants John Proctor to be sent to jail or hanged so that he can take
his land. I’d compare these Puritan people to the American Government because both
are supposed to be symbolized with great morals yet they both take advantage of
their positive reputations to commit their ill-advised deeds.
